Time Flies When You’re Having Fun.

It has been so long since I posted, not only here but also the sermons in the media files section, I finally used the last couple of weeks to get caught up with the sermons and most of them are posted HERE.

The exceptions to this are the ones that were lost or not recorded due to technical difficulties with the recorder, they are the message on the introduction to the Full Armor of God and the message on the Helmet of Salvation, two of my best messages ever (only kidding).

Also the messages on The Gifts of the Spirit are a bit strange in that the recorder had reset it’s self back to default, which is “conference mode” so it attempts to pick up more than one person speaking, I have to do quite a bit of clean-up when this occurs so I sound like I am in a tin can and there are a few weird artifacts left over from the filtering, I tried to remove most of them but if you hear something weird that is what it is, there really aren’t space aliens at church.

We didn’t have Church today due to the weather, I have been a bit sick all week anyway with sinus issues and now a little cough so I would have had a hard time with all the talking. I have used the time to finish up uploading the sermons so we should all be caught up again.

The LOVE of Jesus

Love is such an important aspect of God so we spent two weeks looking at that Love. Even though we can get too blinded by that Love that we forget the reasons behind that Love.

This was a good opportunity to really look at the phrase “God is Love” and begin to see what Love is.

The sermons were on The LOVE of Jesus PART 1 and PART 2 Check them out in the Media Files section.

The Forgiveness of Joseph

We live in a sin fallen world and injustice is a fact, like Joseph we will experience wrongs done to us for no fault of our own. We have a choice in life to grow bitter and revengeful or to get up, shake it off and continue to do good.

I am not diminishing the fact if you are suffering, I feel for your struggle but what I hope is that, like Joseph you can begin see the hand of God in your life and nothing that happens in your life is outside of His hands. So how can you forgive the undeserving? Just as Christ died for the forgiveness of our sin, He did so for us even though we did not deserve it.

The sermon this week was on the FORGIVENESS of Joseph Check it out in the Media Files section.

Forgetful on Forgiveness

I am going to beg FORGIVENESS again, but this time it is for being forgetful, this last weekend we spent up at our new place near Riverview working (rain has been hard on the driveway), and in the rush to pack on Friday evening I went off and forgot the Bible bag (Gasp! of all things), of course housed inside of it along with my Bible, Sunday School Quarterly and notebooks was the voice recorder, usually  I throw it in the laptop bag, but not this time.

So along with loosing my reading glasses, somewhere out while mowing or blading the driveway (I had an old scratched spare pair), and the door falling off the freezer in the camper, and no Quarterly or Bible I was able to get both the Lesson and the Sermon done, but alas I can’t share it with you because I couldn’t record it and it was the best one I’ve done so far (only kidding).

We are studying in the Book of Job right now, maybe God wanted to teach me a little faith and patience.

And this weekend the message was on the FORGIVENESS of Joseph part 1, it was the background of Joseph and his father Jacob plus a little about some of the brothers of Joseph. So next week we will looking at the actual FORGIVENESS of Joseph and I promise to try and not forget anything.

Finally Got all the Sermons Caught Up!

The site admin got onto me for not getting my sermons posted and not updating my blog, so I have been working on editing and posting all the sermons for the last “couple” of months, hopefully everyone can forgive me.

I have been very busy after the tornado in January, I will be cutting up trees forever, we will at least have a good supply of firewood - I also have been working at repairing Lori’s mom’s double-wide so we can get it moved up to the new property, that is if it will quit raining long enough to dry out and I can get the driveway in good enough shape for a trailer to get in.

Also been working on finalizing the house plans and I ordered the roof trusses which are finished and will be delivered the 23 of June. Now I have to see if I can’t line up enough people to help put the trusses up. And I also have the new shed to assemble (quonset type), and work 40 hours a week and prepare a sermon and Sunday school lesson each week and edit and post the sermons and try to keep my blog updated, whew! Did I miss anything? Oh yeah, the grass won’t quit growing and there is that “sleep” thing.

Really it will all slow down, I hope, soon. I know I am doing what the Lord wants me to do, but at times I probably don’t trust Him enough or have the faith I need.

Any way, check out the new sermons  there are messages on; Dedication, Courage, Leadership and Stubbornness amongst others. I hope that they will bless, encourage and inform you.

Winter Weather

I haven’t posted any sermons in the last two weeks because winter weather has kept us out of Church.

Last week a severe ice storm came though on Saturday night taking out power to much of the region, this week was snow, with it snowing moderately on Saturday afternoon and a call for several more inches by morning we decided not to try even though now it is sunny but cold.

Hopefully next week we can get back in time for a Christmas message if the weather will cooperate.

OBEDIENCE (parts 3&4)

On Sunday November 25, 2007 I spoke on obedience, to listen CLICK HERE.
This is part 3 of the now complete 4 part series on Obedience.

“Lord, if it’s you,” Peter replied, “tell me to come to you on the water.”
“Come,” he said.
Then Peter got down out of the boat, walked on the water and came toward Jesus.
But when he saw the wind, he was afraid and, beginning to sink, cried out, “Lord, save me!”
Immediately Jesus reached out his hand and caught him. “You of little faith,” he said, “why did you doubt?”
Matthew 14:28-31 NIV

My hope is that I can always be obedient, keeping my eye on the Lord, and step out of the boat when He calls me to come, I know the Lord is always there to reach out and lift me up when I get afraid and doubt creeps into my life.

On Sunday December 2, 2007 I concluded our messages on obedience, to listen CLICK HERE
The Blessings of Obedience. If we are Faithful and Obedient to God, He has promised blessings greater than we can imagine.

He replied, “Blessed rather are those who hear the word of God and obey it.”
Luke 11:28

Spiritual Blessings and Joy are in store for those who obey God, guaranteed!

OBEDIENCE (part1)

“Was not our ancestor Abraham considered righteous for what he did when he offered his son Isaac on the altar? You see that his faith and his actions were working together, and his faith was made complete by what he did. And the scripture was fulfilled that says, “Abraham believed God, and it was credited to him as righteousness,” and he was called God’s friend. You see that a person is justified by what he does and not by faith alone.” James 2:21-24

On Sunday November 4, 2007 I spoke on obedience, to listen CLICK HERE this is part 1, so there will be at least one more message on obedience next week.

“The kingdom of God moves forward on the shoulders of the obedient.”

Obedience is a very important thing, our faith is measured by it. How far are we willing to step out in obedience when God prompts us to do something? We probably won’t ever have to step too far out if we have obedient hearts because we have already proved ourselves obedient when God has asked us to do the small things.

The smallness or the greatness of a thing is not what matters to God, all He’s looking for is a willing heart.

FAITH

“By faith Noah, when warned about things not yet seen, in holy fear built an ark to save his family. By his faith he condemned the world and became heir of the righteousness that comes by faith.” Hebrews 11:7

The Bible defines faith as; “Now faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see.” Hebrews 11:1

On Sunday October 28, 2007 I spoke on faith, to listen CLICK HERE forgive me for the audio quality this is my first attempt at producing a pod-cast and I need to get a better mic on my recorder.

Hopefully the quality of my preaching will improve with time also, I’m sure it will, just like we have to grow in faith, I have to grow in preaching.
